The Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra has under Section 40(1)(b) of the Maharashtra Regional & Town Planning Act, 1966, declared CIDCO to be the Special Planning Authority for the notified area covered by the Chikhaldara Municipal Council and the villages of Motha, Aaladoh, Lawada and Shahpur of Amravati District, on 09.01.2008 vide Government Resolution No. TPS-2806/13/CR-9/2006/UD-30 with a view to bring about planned and orderly development of the Chikhaldara Hill Station and surrounding areas. The notified area covers approximately 1953 Ha.
