  CIDCO APPOINTS CONSULTANT FOR NAVI MUMBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

After receiving approval from Govt of India in July 2007, CIDCO had in all earnest initiated proposals to appoint Prime Consultant for the proposed Navi Mumbai Airport. The process of appointment of Consultant has been completed and M/s. Louis Berger Group of Washington DC has been appointed as the Consultant. The Consultant is expected to prepare the Detailed Project Report within 10 months. Following which in 3 to 4 months the Process of selection of Airport Developers would be completed. CIDCO has planned to complete the first phase of the airport by July 2012.

Along with the appointment of Consultant, CIDCO has also started consultation process with the land owners. Out of the total land required about 75% is either in possession of CIDCO or is the Govt. land which is likely to be transferred to CIDCO in short time. The balance land will be acquired through Consultation with the land owners. Along with the acquisition of land (in about 11 villages affecting 3500 families) CIDCO has also devised Rehabilitation Policy which is comparable to any other policy in the Country. In connection with the Airport Project the studies on Environment & Hydrography have been given to IIT-Mumbai and CWPRS-Pune respectively. The socio-economic study has also been awarded and is expected to be completed soon.
