It has been a constant endeavor of the Corporation to do & give the best to its customers, for which it has always been in tune with the time. In this direction a major step has been taken to modernise its information system in order to serve its customers better in today’s competitive environment.

CIDCO’s IT Initiative
As a systematic approach WIPRO Infotech's help was sought to prepare a long-term IT Roadmap. After understanding all the functional areas of CIDCO, WIPRO recommended that a combination of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Geographical Information System (GIS) will be required for CIDCO. On further evaluation System Applications Product (SAP) for ERP application was finalised.
SAP is the world’s leading ERP software solution. It is an integrated application with best business practices mapped for functional areas such as Finance, Marketing, Real Estate, Human Resources, Project Management, Materials Management etc.
SAP takes the advantage of unification technology namely database, messaging system, internet, data warehousing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), etc.
To implement a gigantic project like SAP a good IT infrastructure for administering and monitoring centralized network was required. To accomplish this, a state-of-the-art
Data Centre accommodating Servers and Centralised Network was prepared. The HUB-based LAN has been changed to switch-based LAN at CIDCO Bhavan with fibre optic backbone for faster access.
As the next step, a rigorous process of selecting the implementation partner was started off. A tender was floated by CIDCO in January, 2002 for the same. Out of the five short listed partners – Wipro, TCS, SISL, PWC and L&T InfoTech, CIDCO decided to go ahead with Wipro.
The project named as “INTELLIGENCITY”.
Core Team was formed with two officers/Staff representatives for each SAP Module from each Department. Actual project development commenced w.e.f. 3rd week of December 2002 with 5 days’ Training Program for The Core Team. The Core Team worked with the WIPRO Consultants, the Development of major processes was completed by the end of August 2003.
