Aurangabad Fringe Area |

Aurangabad Municipal Corporation area is fast developing into a major educational, commercial and industrial centre of the Marathwada Region and it is estimated to have a population of about 12 lakhs today. Considering the rate of urbanization in the fringe areas of this city, the Govt. of Maharashtra appointed CIDCO as the Special Planning Authority for Aurangabad fringe area on 03.10.2006 under section 40(1)(b) of the M.R&T.P. Act 1966 vide its notification No.TPS/3006/381/CR- 246/2006/UD-30. It covers an area of approx 16,397 Ha., spread over 28 villages located beyond the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation limits. As per the Regional Plan of Aurangabad, the land use plan of the fringe area proposes about 8918 Ha. (54%) for Greens, 3517 Ha (21%) for residential, 3176 ha (19%) for Forests, 113 Ha. for industrial and the rest for other zones. All necessary statistical details to know the socio-economic profile of the area, village maps, details of NA permissions etc. are being collected to build up the data base. Analysis of the typologies of development across various pockets of the fringe area is presently underway.
