After Central Park at Kharghar and Urban Haat at Belapur, another welcome addition to the ever growing list of city level facilities in Navi Mumbai now will be the Golf Course project at Kharghar. The corporation has decided to develop a signature Golf Course of international standards in Sector – 22 of Kharghar Node. The proposed Golf Course shall spread over an area of 103 ha. approx. and will be located just across the Central Park in Sector-23, 24 & 25 of Kharghar.
As presently conceptualized the project shall include an 18 – hole Golf Course, Club House, 5 Star Hotel, Golf Academy to train people in Golf, high class residential developments on peripheral area, etc. The site for this golf course has an idyllic setting with the Pandav Waterfalls as the backdrop and the overview of Central Park. On completion, both these projects shall complement each other beautifully and provide people with entire gamut of recreational activities at one location.
On 31.1.2008, the work on the Golf Course project started with a one- day workshop organized by Shri. G.S. Gill, VC&MD, CIDCO to understand the mechanics, details and requirements of Golf Course vis-à-vis’ CIDCO’s requirements. The workshop was attended by Planners and Engineers from CIDCO and presentation on various Golf courses implemented in India and world-wide was given by Mr. Phil Ryan, renowned golf player and expert in planning and designing of Golf Course.
M/s Pacific Coast Design of Melbourne, (Australia) were appointed as the consultants for preparing the Master Plan of the 18-hole golf course Project. Phil Ryan, expert in Golf Course Design and Robert Cairns, Asian Regional Manager were present from PCD. The corporation intends to operationalise the project by February 2010.
